They prefer open woodland, scrub and thickets with tall grasses and seek out watercourses. They will also take up residence in gardens, orchards and parks. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey forage in pairs or small groups, and in large groups of up to 200 during breeding season. The male performs a dance for the female, usually while holding a piece of grass in his bill, and fluffing up his feathers. After a bit of bobbing about, he drops the grass and sings for his intended. The pair build a very small nest lined with grass or feathers, usually within about one metre of the ground. Here they will lay three to five eggs that hatch in less than two weeks.
