Torresian imperial pigeon/Torres Strait pigeon and Carpenteria palm
Also known as the Pied Imperial Pigeon (and a host of other names) this migratory bird seeks wet climes and the fruit of tropical palms, vines, trees and bushes. Torresian Imperial Pigeons migrate in large flocks moving between the north of Australia and Papua New Guinea and nearby islands.
Native to the Northern Territory, Carpentaria Palms are slender palms that can grow to over 30 metres in height. The high volume of their fruit attracts birds as well as fruit bats and seeds easily sprout new palms ensuring there are many to feed on.
