Rainbow bee-eater

The only species of bee-eater in Australia, this colourful bird is not a favourite of beekeepers. While they will eat other insects, they are particularly fond of sweet and tasty bees and can eat hundreds in a single day. They can spy a meal from up to 45 metres away, swooping in to snap up an insect mid-flight, twisting and turning to hit the target. They return to the perch to eat, knocking the stings out on a branch before tucking in.

Rainbow bee-eaters are common across much of Australia and are social birds that have even been known to share nests.

This design was created as series of hand-carved lino blocks and also features the kapok flower.

Title:

glasses slip cases

Our glasses cases have a sturdy canvas outer printed with our own designs. They are lined inside and feature a padded layer to provide protection for your glasses cases while taking up much less room in your bag than a hard carry case.

They fit most glasses, being 10cm across and around 20cm tall.

They're durable and washable and customers report the fun bright prints make them easy to find in your bag.

Made in Australia

Handmade with love

Every fabric used in our glasses cases is designed by Boo at Susurrus Studio in Darwin River, located an hour south of Darwin in the hot tropics of Australia. Boo draws much of her inspiration from her bush environment, especially the birds and flora of the Top End and across Australia.

The fabrics are printed with care in Sydney. When they arrive, Boo steps away from the design table and leans into the sewing machine to hand craft each item.
