Emerald ground dove
As their name suggests, Emerald Ground Doves spend much of their time on the ground, where they forage for food such as seeds and fallen rainforest fruits. If disturbed they are more likely to walk away than fly. When they do take flight they weave through the trees in a forest with speed and skill.
They live in tropical forests, mangroves and wet woodlands, roosting in trees. The birds build a scant stick nest where they will lay two eggs.
The top of the purse frame measures 10cm across. The second image in the carousel shows the fabric used for the purse lining.
