Red-backed fairywren
The red-backed fairywren is the smallest of all Australian fairywrens. In breeding plumage the diminutive male still manages to be very eye-catching in dapper black, red and brown. Sometimes seen in small flocks comprising a colourful breeding male, females, non-breeding males and juveniles, red-backed fairywrens are one of the least ‘faithful’ birds in the world. Males work hard to mate with more than one female, foraying in to neighbouring territories and wooing females with gifts of colourful petals. While the parentage of their young is questionable at best, they are highly co-operative breeders with chicks being fed by all members of the group.
Speargrass refers to native perennial grass found in tropical woodlands in the Northern Territory. Speargrass grows up to four metres high in the wet season and produces many seeds that attract birds. The seeds are very sharp and lodge easily in clothing - a clever technique for seed transportation.

- Our cushion fabrics are designed by Boo at Susurrus Studio in Darwin River and printed in Australia. Boo uses a variety of techniques to design the fabrics including painting, drawing, lino prints and digital photography and drawing.
- Boo makes all the cushions in her studio and is registered with the Australian Made campaign.
- Cushions listed on this page are made from polyester upholstery fabric, making them super durable in most environments and very easy to wash.
- They come in a range of great designs with vibrant colours to match any decor.
- All cushions are double-sided. Some cushions have a variation of print (usually scale) on the other side - unless two different images are shown in the display above, both sides of the cushion will be identical.

Handmade with love
Every fabric used in our cushion covers is designed by Boo at Susurrus Studio in Darwin River, located an hour south of Darwin in the hot tropics of Australia. Boo draws much of her inspiration from her bush environment, especially the birds and flora of the Top End and across Australia.
The fabrics are printed with care in Sydney. When they arrive, Boo steps away from the design table and leans into the sewing machine to hand craft each item.
