Pink Cockatoo
The pink cockatoo - Cacatua leadeateri - is also known as Leadbeater's cockatoo and Major Mitchell's cockatoo. It has had other names through the years, with Major Thomas Mitchell calling it the red-top cockatoo, rather than naming it after himself. The indigenous name from the Swan River region for the bird is Jak-kul-yak-kul. Other names include desert cockatoo, chockalott, chock-a-lock, joggle joggle and wee juggler - an anglicisation of the Wiradjuri name wijugla. It's a fun name, but clearly does not advertise the juggling skills of this particular bird.
Pink cockatoos begin breeding at around three or four years of age and can live into their eighties. They require extensive uninterrupted woodlands as they will not nest close together. Unlike the galah, therefore, the pink cockatoo is not responding well to human colonisation of its habitat and its numbers are declining.

glasses slip cases
Our glasses cases have a sturdy canvas outer printed with our own designs. They are lined inside and feature a padded layer to provide protection for your glasses cases while taking up much less room in your bag than a hard carry case.
They fit most glasses, being 10cm across and around 20cm tall.
They're durable and washable and customers report the fun bright prints make them easy to find in your bag.
Handmade with love
Every fabric used in our glasses cases is designed by Boo at Susurrus Studio in Darwin River, located an hour south of Darwin in the hot tropics of Australia. Boo draws much of her inspiration from her bush environment, especially the birds and flora of the Top End and across Australia.
The fabrics are printed with care in Sydney. When they arrive, Boo steps away from the design table and leans into the sewing machine to hand craft each item.
