Fig bird and native fig
Gregarious birds with a love of native figs, figbirds congregate in large groups to feast. Having feasted, they then spread the seeds of their favourite trees through the forest, ensuring new trees and the resulting food for future generations.
Thanks to their tasty fruit, native figs are popular with many birds and with butterflies too. They grow into enormous shady trees with long aerial fibrous roots, large glossy leaves and small fruits.
